Blanco Tranco are a punk rhythm section interwoven with jangly guitars and sultry vocals. The music they make is loud but sensitive, modern but nostalgic. They combine melancholic surf with quiet-loud-quiet post punk to produce a sound that would sit comfortably on a coming-of-age movie soundtrack. Blanco Tranco are Mark Howell (bass guitar), Sophie Boyden (drums), Matt McTiernan (guitar) and Tiff Brown (vocals/keys). Established in 2019 when Mark and Sophie answered a Gumtree advert posted by recent Melbourne arrival Matt who was looking for members for a new post punk band. The band invited Tiff to complete the line up in early 2020 after being blown away by her music on SoundCloud.
