Dorfpunk is the (kind of stupid) pseudonym I have been using for all sorts of different projects for years now. It means (in German) Village Punk, punk from the rural town kind of thing. Which is how I live. But it is almost a play on words because it sounds like doofpunk which means stupid punk (doof = stupid) and also techno of course. Fuck it. It works in my head. Anyway – I am Kieren – I play bass in Dark Horse and Death Church and guitar in Penalties and during this shutdown I sat down with a synth and a drum machine and wrote a bunch of music and then sent it to friends all over the world to put vocals on cos I am not a singer.

This song was the first of the project and features poetry written and spoken by Mahmood Fazal with some background screaming and noise by long-time collaborator and friend Spider Death.

Samples are from Ustad Mahwash and from Faiz Karizi. Check them out. Amazing musicians – both from Afghanistan.
